You can add a new port to a Model Type to define how it connects to other Model Types. The port uses a Port Type to define its variables, parameters, and conditions. You can create a Port Type and reference it in multiple Model Types.
Add a port to a Model Type
-
Open the Model Editor for the Model Type.
-
Expand the Ports section.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Drag a Port Type from the Model Library onto the Ports section.
-
Select the
icon.
-
-
(Optional) In the Condition list, select the condition for which the port appears in a model instance.
If there is no selected Condition, the port is always available.
-
(Optional) In the Name box, change the the default name for the port.
-
In the Direction list, select one of the following:
-
In — The port is an inlet (feed) port.
-
Out — The port is an outlet (product) port.
-
-
In the Connections list, select one of the following:
-
Single — the port can connect to only one connector (stream).
-
Multiple — the port can connect to multiple connectors (streams).
For information on multi-ports, see Add a multi-port to a Model Type.
-
-
In the Type list, select the Port Type that you want to use for the port (if you did not drag a Port Type from the Model Library in step 3).
-
Expand the Icon section, select the port you added, and then drag it to the location you want it to display when you add the Model Type to the Canvas.
If you want to specify the location more precisely, you can manually enter the X and Y coordinates. You can also specify the orientation (direction) of the stream connection when it is connected to the port. Go to the Orientation column and select Auto, Left, Right, Top, or Bottom.
-
Give the port a Description.
If the port requirements have been met, the port Status changes from red to green.
