DCOM Security and Configuration

Enable Windows security auditing

Security audits can help you diagnose DCOM permission problems. You must enable Windows security on the OPC server and client nodes.

Note: Policies can be controlled at the domain level if the computer is part of a domain and may not be modifiable.

  1. Open the Local Security Policy control panel.

  2. Click Local Policies > Audit Policy.

  3. Set the following policies to audit failures:

    • Audit account logon events

    • Audit logon events

    • Audit object access

You can find security audit logs in the Security log in Windows Event Viewer.
