n-way buffering
n. A configuration used when buffering data to a PI Data Archive collective. With n-way buffering, the buffering service sends the same data to each collective member. Of the two buffering services, AVEVA recommends PI Buffer Subsystem (pibufss) for most buffering scenarios, including n-way buffering. PI Buffer Subsystem automatically handles n-way buffering. API Buffer Server (bufserv) requires manual configuration whenever a collective changes, and buffered data is compressed at PI Data Archive, so archives at different collective members could contain different records.
