Welcome to PI Builder! The intended audience of this guide includes PI System administrators, process engineers, and anyone who configures and manages the AVEVA PI System.

PI Builder is a Microsoft Excel add-in you can use to import and export PI points and Asset Framework objects in Excel. PI Builder works with other AVEVA software products such as Data Archive, Asset Framework, and PI interfaces, connectors, and adaptors to bring data into the PI System.

PI Builder offers the following benefits:

• Bulk creation, editing, and deletion of PI points and PI point attributes.

• Ability to make multiple copies of existing PI AF objects (elements and attributes, categories, enumeration sets, templates, UOM classes, UOMs, reference types, event frames, transfers, ports, enumeration values, and extended properties).

• Copy existing PI AF objects. If you need to create many objects that are similar in structure, you can create just one, and use PI Builder to make copies of that template's configuration.

• Change settings of existing objects. For example, you can change which PI point is associated with a PI AF attribute.

• Use claims-based authentication via OpenID Connect (OIDC) to log into a claims-enabled AF server or Data Archive.
