Create the database for your AVEVA PI system

This topic explains how to import the database and sample data required for the exercises in this guide.

1. Clone the AF SDK Getting Started GitHub repository to your local computer.

   The code for the exercises is located in GitHub:

   https://github.com/AVEVA/AF-SDK-Getting-Started-Guide

2. Open PI System Explorer.

3. Select File, then select Database.

   The Select Database window opens.

4. Select New Database.

   The Database Properties window opens.

5. In the Name field, enter the name of the database: Green Power Company.

6. Enter the following description: Intro to AF SDK exercise database.

7. Select OK, then select Close.

8. Select File, then select Import from File.

9. In the File text box, browse to the location of the GitHub repository you cloned in step 1, then select AF Database - Green Power Company.xml.

10. Select OK.

    The data for the exercises is created and stored in the Green Power Company database.
