This guide provides entry-level concepts and real-world examples for programmers who want to learn how to develop applications using the Asset Framework software development kit (AF SDK). The guide contains multiple C# programming exercises along with full solutions that illustrate connecting to Data Archive, searching for assets, reading and writing data, building AF hierarchies, and working with event frames.

To get the most from this guide, you should have a background in .NET application development using C# and a familiarity with the PI System; however, familiarity with the AF SDK is not required.
