In order for a community to be available as a Data Source for a CONNECT to PI transfer:
-
The CONNECT to PI Agent's client must be added to the community.
-
The user creating the transfer must be a Community Member or in a group of Community Members for that community.
Locate the Client Id
To add an agent's client to a community, you need to know the agent’s Client Id.
-
In the left pane of the CONNECT data services portal, select Data Collection > PI Agents.
-
Select CONNECT to PI Agents from the agents dropdown selector.
-
Select the agent for the data transfer.
The agent details pane displays. If the agent has communities support (version 1.1 and above), the Client Id is shown on the details panel.

-
Select
to the right of the Client Id to copy it to the clipboard so it can be used when
adding the client to the community.
Add the client to the community
Follow the steps in the "Add clients to a community" section of Manage clients in a community. To take this action, a user must be assigned a role with community administrator permissions. To give community administrator permissions to a role, follow the steps in Manage community administrators.
Enable a user to configure and view a community transfer
For a user to configure and view a community transfer, the user must be a Community Member. To add a user to a community, follow the directions in Manage users in a community. You can also add groups of users; see Manage groups in a community.
