You can create a data transfer for a CONNECT to PI Agent from the PI Agents page.
-
In the left pane of the CONNECT data services portal, select Data Collection > PI Agents.
-
Select CONNECT to PI Agents from the agents dropdown selector.
-
In the PI Agents page, select the agent for the data transfer.
The agent details pane displays.
-
Select + Add Transfer in the agent details pane.
The Add Transfer window opens.
-
Edit the generated ID, if needed.
Note: The transfer ID will be used as the Point Source for the PI points created in the Data Archive.
-
Enter a name for the transfer in the Name box.
-
Select the namespace or community from the Namespace/Data Source dropdown list.
Note: If your tenant is not configured to use communities, this box is labeled Namespace. Otherwise it is labeled Data Source and includes both namespaces and communities that include the agent's client. See Add a community as a transfer data source.
-
Select a Transfer Mode.
-
Streaming with History Recovery: Streams are transferred normally with automatic backfill for periods of lost connection. This mode does not have a specified end time.
-
History Recovery Only: Recovers data from a specified start time to a specified end time.
-
-
Enter your Start Time.
-
If you selected History Recovery Only as the transfer mode, enter an End Time.
-
(Optional) By default the PI Point names that are created in your Data Archive are set to their resolved source stream names. To add a prefix to the PI Point names, enter a value in the PI Point Name Prefix box.
-
Select Continue.
The Transfer Editor opens.
-
Use the Search for… box to search for specific streams.
-
Select the streams to include in the transfer and select Add.
The streams are added to the rows on the right. Select a stream to see its details and properties.
-
You may choose to override the Create Future PI Point setting that has been automatically configured.
A PI Data Archive must know at the time of PI Point creation whether the PI Point will hold future data. When CONNECT data services detects that a stream has future data this value is set to Yes.
-
The PI Point Name is set to the resolved stream name with the optional PI Point Name Prefix. You can also specify a custom name manually. This is required if the stream name contains characters that are invalid for a PI Point name or duplicates another PI Point Name.
-
Hover over a stream and select the
icon.
-
Select Custom Name.
-
Enter a name in the Custom Name box.
-
Select Update.
-
-
(Optional) To change any of your transfer settings, select
Settings.
Note: You may not change the Namespace/Data Source here. Editing the namespace or community resets all selected streams. To change your Namespace/Data Source, you will need to start a new transfer. You may change the Name, Mode, Start Time, and PI Point Name Prefix. When you are finished making changes to your settings, select OK.
-
Select Save and Close to save and return to the PI Agents page.
The status of the transfer is shown in the agent details pane.
