Overview

The PI Powershell utility is an extension built on the Windows Powershell utility which can be used to access multiple aspects of the Asset Framework and PI Data Archive. It leverages the extensibility of the AFSDK library to provide structured access to the variety of data stored on the OSISoft PI System. It enables PISystem administrators and users to use the potent facilities of the Poweshell utility to effectively build and maintain their PISystems.

All Powershell cmdlets fall within one of the following two high-level categories.

  • AF Cmdlets: These cmdlets enable interaction with various aspects of the AFServer such as AF Database, AF Elements, AF Attributes, and their corresponding template objects, along with Event Frames, UOMs and their Classes, and AF Securities, Identities and Mappings.

  • PI Data Archive Cmdlets: These cmdlets enable interaction with various aspects of the PI Data Archive such as the PI Archive, Reprocessing and Backup, PI Collectives, PI Buffer, Digital States, PI Firewall, PI Identites, PI Mappings, and PI Trusts, PI Users and PI Groups, PI Message Log, PI Points and Values, and other stastical information.
