If Windows Update or the System Platform installation program (setup.exe) detects that a system restart is pending:

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. Run the System Platform installation program again.

What to do if the restart message reoccurs

Occasionally, restarting the computer does not clear the pending restart message. This can be caused by a value in the following registry key:

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

Value: PendingFileRenameOperations

If you find this key/value combination:

  • Check the registry value data to identify the component that requires a system restart and contact your IT department or the component vendor for further help.

  • If you are still not able to proceed with installation, contact AVEVA Software Support.
