3DVis Cloud Viewer

The 3DVis Cloud Viewer is a 3D visualization interface that helps host applications interact directly with their asset models.

The following table describes the Viewer toolbar options.

Reset the session to its initial load state

Adjust the camera view based on the current selection in the model

Orbit button on the Viewer toolbar

Orbit

Enter orbit navigation mode:

  • When an item is selected, orbit the selected item

  • When nothing is selected and the cursor is over a model element, orbit around the item under the cursor position

  • When nothing is selected and no model elements are under the cursor, orbit around the center of the model bounding box

Fly button on the Viewer toolbar

Fly

Move forward through the model, with fixed velocity, in the direction of the cursor.

Walk button on the Viewer toolbar

Walk

Move forward and backward through the model at a fixed elevation by using the cursor to steer left and right.

Velocity is determined by how far the cursor is dragged up/down the screen

Clip button on the Viewer toolbar

Clip

Isolates the selected element by creating a 6-plane clipping box around it.

To modify the clipping volume, drag the sides of the clipping box

This tool is active only when an item is selected.

When you clip a selected element, the Hide button appears, giving visibility of the clipping box to be toggled on and off.

Section button on the Viewer toolbar

Section

Takes a 3-plane slice out of the model.

To change the position of the section, select and drag each plane.

When the Section tool is active, the Hide button appears, enabling visibility of the section planes that can be toggled on and off

Measure button on the Viewer toolbar

Measure

Shows the distance between selected points in the scene.

When active, a sidebar menu provides the following measurement tools:

  • Measure path button Path. Use the Path mode to draw:

    • Single-line measures containing one linear segment

    • Multi-line measures containing multiple connected line segments

      Select Path mode tick icon to measure line.

      Select Path mode delete icon to delete the current measure line segment.

      Select Path mode cross icon to delete or close the measure to delete or close the measure.

  • Measure thickness icon Thickness. Select to measure the thickness of an object.

  • Measure diameter icon Diameter. Select to measure the diameter of cylindrical objects.

  • Measurement units button Units. Toggle between metric (m, cm) and imperial (ft, in) units.

  • Lock. Constrains measure lines to the horizontal plane or the vertical axis

    • Lock button to lock measure lines No lock - Draws measure lines on all the axes

    • Vertical lock button to constrain measure lines to the vertical plane Vertical lock - Draws a measure line only on the vertical axis

    • Horizontal lock button to constrain measure lines to the horizontal plane Horizontal lock - Draws a measure line only on the horizontal axis

  • Delete button to delete all measurements from view Delete. Deletes all measurements from view

Controls visibility of objects

  • Hide button to hide all objects Hide. Removes currently selected objects from view

  • Isolate button to isolate selected objects from view Isolate. Removes all elements except currently selected objects from view

  • Show all button to display previously hidden objects Show All. Shows all previously hidden objects

  • Icon to select the parent of the object in a model Select Parent. Shows the parent of the currently selected object

  • Icon to clear all selections in a model Unselect All. Clears all selections in the model

  • Icon to make objects in a model translucent Translucent. Makes objects in a model translucent

  • Remove translucent icon Remove Translucent. Removes all translucency in the model

Views button on the Viewer toolbar

Views

Controls the display of the model

  • X-Ray: Toggle this option to make the model translucent, increasing the visibility of highlighted objects

  • Shadows: Toggle this option to improve visibility of darker areas

  • Insulation and Ob: Toggle this option for visibility of insulation and obstruction volumes in the model

    This only works with AVEVA E3D models that contain INSU (Insulation) or OBST (Obstruction) elements

Additional Viewer controls

  • Teleport: Controls the position of the camera. Drag the icon onto any surface on the 3D model to position the camera at a height of 1.8 m above that surface.

  • Compass: Reflects the current position of the camera and enables interaction with mouse/touch to modify current views.

    Interaction with the Compass control tool:

    • Select top view and bottom view buttons

    • Select slider to change pitch

    • Drag compass to change yaw

    • Select world axis or blue circle to align with different predefined views

The 3DVis Cloud Viewer toolbar is adaptive, dynamically adjusting its size according to the screen resolution to ensure functionality across all devices.

The following table describes how the toolbar appears at different screen resolutions.

3D model interactions

The 3DVis Cloud Viewer application supports the following interactions. The application hosting 3DVis Cloud must implement the interaction methods (touch, mouse, and keyboard) before you can access them. As such, not all interactions may be available.

  • Orbit mode:

    • Rotate the view from the initial position (when no element is selected).

    • Rotate the view with respect to the selected element at the center.

  • Walk mode: Rotate the view towards the left and the right within the same height.

  • Fly mode: Rotate the view from the center of the screen with mouse movement.
