Tracker registers

Use the Tracker Register to track records and changes from a data source without publishing data directly. The Tracker Register has no Interpreted State of its own.

Tracker Registers are used with one or more Linked Registers that maintain and publish data associated with the tracked records.

The state of each Linked Register is tied to its Tracker Register, ensuring that linked data remains synchronized even when the Linked Register uses a different Record Identifier.

Example

PDMS objects are uniquely identified by a stable DBREF for example =153/100.

The same object may have a Name such as, /P-1001.

The required Tag, for example P-1001, may be derived from the object Name, an attribute, or a Data Expression.

Using the Name or another editable attribute as the Record Identifier can cause synchronization issues with Partial Updates, as these values may change.

Instead you can do the following:

  • Use a Tracker Register with the stable DBREF as the Record Identifier.

  • Use a Linked Register to derive and publish the required Tag data.

This ensures reliable object tracking while allowing published identifiers and attributes derived from the tracked object.
