Export the security certificate

Before you can start the Web Client on any remote device, install a security certificate. The most reliable way to do this is to export the security certificate from the SMS and copy the exported certificate file to the remote device.

Export the security certificate from the System Management Server

  1. On the System Management Server (SMS), start the Configurator.

  2. Under Common Platform, select System Management Server.

  3. Select Advanced to open the Advanced Configuration dialog.

  4. On the Certificates tab, select Details. The Certificate dialog opens.

  5. Select the Certification Path tab and select the top-level certificate in the certification path.

  6. Select View Certificate.

  7. Select the Details tab, then select Copy to File.

    This opens the Certificate Export Wizard.

  8. Select Next and keep the default export format (DER encoded binary X.509).

  9. Select Next again. You are asked to enter a name for the certificate file to be exported. Use Browse to select the location for saving the file.

    Note: Do not change the .CER extension.

  10. Select Next., then select Finish to save the file. You can now close the Configurator and Certificate dialogs.

After you have exported the certificate file, it can be used on any device that needs to connect to the SMS. Copy the file to each remote device and import the certificate on those devices.
