The connected experience is a recommended optional configuration with Operations Control. Adding the connected experience to an Operations Control subscription provides the security of federated identity management for authentication and authorization, superseding the segmented approach of individual product security configurations. A per-user common identity is configured, authenticated, and managed through CONNECT.
AVEVA Operations Control with the connected experience requires an internet connection for all operations. Opting in to an offline connected experience addresses potential unplanned internet connection loss that could impact entitlement and authentication thereby interrupting or limiting operations. The offline connected experience provides the option to perform on-premises authentication and entitlement checks.
Note: Typically, connection can be lost if your internet service dropped the connection or if the CONNECT server is unavailable. Contact your System Administrator to remedy connection issues.
In the event that your system loses internet connectivity or if you otherwise lose connection with CONNECT, you can restore seamless continuity of the product by opting into the offline connected experience. Enabling the offline connected experience permits authentication for up to 30 days using your Microsoft Windows Active Directory (AD) credentials. Steps to opt in to the offline connected experience are outlined in Opt in to the offline connected experience.
Note: The offline connected experience option provides access to on-premises applications only.
