To configure and administer PI Connectors, you must be aware of the type of PI Connector you are working with. The administration of PI Connectors depends on their generation - 1.0 or 2.0.
Generation 1.0
You can utilize a web browser to access the PI Connector's Administrative UI for Generator 1.0 connectors. The web browser is used to configure the destination PI Data Archive and/or destination PI AF Server.
Note: The Administrative UI can be accessed remotely provided firewall rules are in place permitting you to do so.

Generation 2.0
Generation 2.0 connectors are managed using the PI Data Collection Manager browser-based web application. This enables users to configure and manage multiple PI Connectors, PI Relays and destinations. The image below provides an example of what the application looks like and how it displays the connections between Data Sources, Connectors, Relays, and their destinations.

From PI Data Collection Manager, users register PI Connectors, select data sources, add OMF applications, and route data through PI Connector Relays to specific destinations within the PI AF database. After they are registered and configured, users can monitor data flow in real-time on the PI Data Collection Manager dashboard. The dashboard also provides functionality to modify data sources, start and stop connectors, revoke and reinstate OMF application data ingress, and re-route data flow to alternative destinations.
As a browser-based web application, PI Data Collection Manager can be accessed remotely - provided that firewall rules are in place permitting to do so.
