Procedure

  1. In the Object Explorer pane, double-click AF Servers to expand the list of available PI AF Servers.

  2. Right-click a PI AF server and click Connect.

  3. In the PI System (AF) Login window, choose the appropriate method to log in to the PI AF server:

    • If you want to use Windows NT Integrated security, click OK.

    • If you want to login with credentials, clear the Use Windows NT Integrated security checkbox, provide credentials for a Windows user account, and click OK.

Note: To access the various PI AF data sources, PI System data references, and so on, you must enter login information for an account with valid permissions for the machine that runs the PI AF server. For details, see Security configuration in PI AF.

A green arrow next to the data source icon indicates that the connection is successful. The schema under AF Servers is expanded.

If you encounter an error similar to the one below, you may need to install the PI OLEDB Enterprise Agent server component required for current versions of PI AF server. Verify installation of the PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) software on the PI AF server.
