Configure log collection of analytic and debug events

When you configure PI Web API to write debug information to analytic and debug logs, you access them using the Microsoft Event Viewer.

To capture PI Web API logs, you can also use other event logs that are integrated with Event Tracing for Windows (ETW).

Note: If the DebugMode configuration is set to true, additional information, such as error details and user input queries will be returned. For additional information, see Other security settings.

1. Open Microsoft Event Viewer.

2. Select View and then select Show Analytic and Debug Logs from the list.

   

3. In the navigation pane, locate the Applications and Services Logs folder and expand by selecting >.

4. Locate and expand the PIWebAPI folder.

   

5. Select Analytic.

6. Right-click and select Enable Log on the pop-up menu. The system displays a warning indicating that analytic and debug logs may lose events when enabled. Select OK to continue.

7. Return to the navigation pane and select Debug.

8. Right-click and select Enable Log on the pop-up menu. The system displays a warning indicating that analytic and debug logs may lose events when enabled. Select OK to continue.
