Introduction

Unified Operations Center (UOC) applications access PI data through Asset Framework (AF). If you already have an existing PI structure and want to utilize the work within the Asset Framework, you could do so with the help of QuickScript. Accessing data using QuickScript is difficult to configure and maintain. The performance when accessing data using QuickScript is not the best since there is no way to subscribe for changes.

PCS PI Data provider and its components provide a seamless integration between PI data and Asset Framework model with OMI and System Platform. PCS PI Data provider integrates PI and System Platform thus reducing the time and effort to deliver PI data to UOC applications.

This is achieved through:

• PCS PI Data provider: PCS provider that implements IBrowse and IRuntimeData service contracts, to enable System Platform to access Asset Framework hierarchies and create subscription for data changes.

• PCS Browser: PCS Attribute Browser add-in for AVEVA System Platform to allow tree-based lazy loading navigation of hierarchies and support for special characters.

• PCS Navigation App: OMI App for navigating through PCS PI Data provider using iBrowse contract and exposes the selected asset and related information.
