The following diagram shows the workflow of PCS PI Data provider:

The integration between PI data and System Platform reduces time and effort taken by delivery team to access PI data into UOC applications. The PCS PI Data provider implements IBrowse and IRuntimeData contracts, which enables System Platform to access Asset Framework hierarchies.

IBrowse: The IBrowse service contract defines browsing behavior for ArchestrA services, exposing entity models and namespaces in a standard manner. Browsing allows clients to discover entities and obtain references to attributes for data subscriptions. The IBrowse service contract relies on the ArchestrA Common Entity Model (CEM) for consistent model representation. Entities in the CEM consist of facets with attributes and methods, each having unique names and properties. Entities inherit from entity types and can participate in various relationships with other entities.

IRuntimeData: The IRuntimeData service contract for ArchestrA services provides and consumes runtime data in PCS. Runtime data includes real-time and semi real-time process variable data. The IRuntimeData service contract is valuable in the Enterprise Control System, from control and safety layers to supervisory control and higher layers.
