Troubleshoot AVEVA Connect logout issues

Under certain conditions, described in this topic, you might not be able to complete logging out of AVEVA Connect.

Common cause of logout failure

The most common cause of a logout failure is that you lost connection with AVEVA Connect prior to logging out. If you attempt to log out but have lost connectivity, you may see one or both of the following messages:

AIM lost connection

Logout failure

Resolve your connectivity issue then attempt to log out again after connection is restored.

Log out failure behaviors

  1. After a logout, you might remain logged into AVEVA Connect and your Federated Identity Provider.

Following the logout process, you might remain connected even after closing and reopening the browser. In such instances, the system retains persisted information, allowing users to access their AIM session without being prompted for credentials during subsequent logins. This indicates a failure in the logout process, potentially compromising security measures.

Resolve any connectivity issues and attempt to log out again.

  2. After a logout, you may be prompted to close your browser rather than returning to your application.

After you have initiated a log out from AVEVA Connect and selected the account, the browser may encounter difficulties in executing the logout process. This can activate the cancellation token, either by timing out or by manual cancellation, without the expected redirection occurring.

  3. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) failure upon login with prompt.

If your user account has not completed the process of logging out of AVEVA Connect and a login with a prompt is then attempted, the system may prompt for the username and password as expected but fail to trigger MFA.

Prevent logout issues

  1. Address callback issues.

During the AVEVA Connect logout process, ensure that your browser session is actively open when you initiate the logout. This ensures proper execution of the logout.

  2. Account selection.

Ensure you select the correct AVEVA Connect account from which to log out. An incorrect account selection can lead to a failed logout.
