Add Data server

To add a data server, perform the following:

  1. In the Buffering Manager, click File and select Add Data server...

  2. Configure buffering for: Select from the drop-down menu the data source for which you are configuring buffering.

  3. Server: Either click the browse link to navigate to the Data Archive server to which data is to be sent, or enter the name of the server in the Server field.

  4. Click Next.

  5. PI Data Archive Security: Select either PI Mapping (recommended) or PI trust authentication method.

  6. Fill in the PI Identity field using one of the following methods:

    • Enter a new name and click Create.

    • Click the browse link to open the Select PI Identify, PI Group, or PI User window. Select PI Identity from the Type drop-down menu, then click OK.

  7. If you selected PI trust authentication, the Client name and IP address fields display in the IP Information section of the window. Those fields populate automatically with the corresponding Computer Name and IP Address of the machine on which the ICU is running. Select both the Client name and IP address.

  8. Click Next.

    Note: An alert displays if the configuration of the added data server conflicts with security standards: The PI Buffer Subsystem has not passed all security tests. Would you like to continue anyway? Click Yes to continue, No to cancel the operation. A Verification window displays to confirm that the server was added successfully.

  9. Click Exit Add Service Wizard.
