Configure the Web Client

Configuring the Web Client includes PCS client registration, port setting, and web application setting.

The Web Client uses PCS with token-based authentication. For this authentication process to work, you need to register the computer where PCS is installed and running using the Web Client configuration tool. During registration, settings for the port and web application are also taken care of.

To configure the Web Client

  1. Run the Web Client configuration tool as an administrator.

You can access this tool at <WebClient InstallPath>\ConfigurationTool\Acacia.ConfigurationTool.exe

  2. On the window that appears, specify the following details and select Save.

    • Token server Url - This is the URL of the server where PCS is installed. For example: https://amp-srvr01.domain.com (https://<ComputerName>.<DomainName>)

You can get the actual URL through the AVEVA Common Services Portal.

      1. On the server where you install PCS, open Common Services Portal.

      2. Select the Troubleshooting icon as shown in the following screenshot and then select Scan.

This page displays some information that includes the Management Server, located at the bottom of the page. Its description is the URL that you can use for the Token Server Url.

Tip To check if you have a valid URL, copy the URL into the browser address bar and add identitymanager at the end of it. For example: https://amp-srvr01.domain.com/identitymanager. If it's valid, it directs you to the Identity Manager page.

    • Web Client server name - This is the name of the computer server where the Web Client is installed. It is recommended to use the actual computer name with a fully qualified domain name rather than localhost to prevent any certificate issues. For example: amp-srvr01.domain.com

    • Username and Password - The credentials from a domain user account in the Administrators group on the computer where PCS is installed and running. The username must include the domain name. For example: <DomainName>\<Username>

    • Certificate - This is your organization's SSL trusted certificate. During installation, if you provide a least-privilege account, grant read permissions to the root CA's private key of this certificate. If the root CA is not available locally, grant read permissions to the certificate itself.

When you save the configuration details, the tool registers the client to the PCS server with this client ID: ProductionManagement<WebClientServername> For example: ProductionManagementamp-srvr01.domain.com.

If you register a PCS client that has already been registered, your registration replaces the prior registration.
