Determine where to install the component during configuration

Business Logic Tier (BLT) components can be installed on any computer that has AVEVA Enterprise SCADA products installed.

BLT components can be started as part of any product, as a result, there is flexibility in where the components can be installed. Typically, BLT components should be distributed and installed as part of the product that contains them. For instance, the RealTime product contains many BLT components that are distributed and installed with RealTime.

Another factor to consider when selecting the installation location for BLT components is which AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Application Programming Interface (API) the component uses. For example, a component that uses the RealTime.HighPerformanceDB class must be installed on a RealTime host. This requirement is because the HighPerformanceDB class accesses the RealTime database (RTDB) directly on the local host.
