An AVEVA adapter can be configured using the AVEVA™ Adapter Configuration Utility, the EdgeCmd utility, which is our proprietary adapter configuration tool, or a widely-used REST tool.

AVEVA™ Adapter Configuration Utility

The AVEVA™ Adapter Configuration Utility is a web-based tool for creating, managing, and validating adapter configurations without directly editing configuration files. Key features include guided configuration workflows, validation checks, import and export options, and support for managing connection settings, data sources, endpoints, secrets, and runtime options.

For more information, see the AVEVA™ Adapter Configuration Utility documentation.

EdgeCmd utility

The EdgeCmd utility enables adapter configuration on both Linux and Windows operating systems. For more information on using the EdgeCmd utility, see the EdgeCmd utility documentation.

CONNECT data services

CONNECT data services includes a configuration editor for EdgeCmd utility and adapters. For more information, see Edge Data Store & Adapters.

REST tools

The following third party tools are available to make REST calls:

  • Postman

Postman is a REST tool for systems with GUI components. Adapters are supported on platforms without GUIs. Postman is particularly useful for learning more about adapters. For more information, see Postman (https://www.postman.com/).

Definition: Postman is a global software company that offers an API platform for developers to design, build, test, and collaborate on APIs.
