Starting version 1.1, AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher is available as a Windows service.

You can start AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher as a Windows service using the GDP Service Manager tool or using the Windows commands.

The following image provides an overview of the tool.

The following tasks can be performed from the GDP Service Manager tool:

  • Start/stop the Service

  • Set the following configuration arguments for the Service

Note: You must stop the the AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher Service to set the following arguments.

    • logs-location-path - Location for the log files for the instance.

    • config-file-path - Location of the configuration file for the instance.

    • watched-directory - The location that is currently watched by AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher.

AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher can detect the trigger.start file in any of the sub folders of this location. The changes are picked for publishing from the folder where the trigger.start file is located and all its sub folders.

    • app-data-directory - (Optional) Location of the application data for the manager and instance. If you want to store the application data at a custom location, you need to add this new argument. The default location for application data is %LOCALAPPDATA%\GDP.

Important: If you have changed the location of the application data, you must make sure that an access token is set once again before running the instance or the GDP Service Manager.

  • Set the token for AVEVA™ Ingestion Service. For information on how to set the access token using the GDP Service Manager, see Adding Access Tokens for AVEVA Gateway Data Publisher.
