AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher is a back-end process tool that enables the users of AVEVA Gateways to publish data to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management through AVEVA™ Ingestion Service. In order to do this, AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher watches a pre-configured staging area to which an AVEVA Gateways user publishes the data, picks the modified contents of the folder and publishes them to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management though AVEVA™ Ingestion Service.
By doing this, AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher enables you to connect your on-premise AVEVA application to Cloud-based applications that are available through CONNECT. Thus, AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher enables transfer of data across your organization.
Note: The AVEVA Gateway that is publishing the data to the staging area must generate the trigger.start file. This file enables the AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher to automatically pick up the changes to the folder and all its sub folders, and publish them to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management through AVEVA™ Ingestion Service. For information about how to generate the trigger.start file, refer to the user guide of your gateway at the installation location of your product.
AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher can detect the trigger.start file in any sub folders of the location that is designated as the staging area. It scans for the changes starting from the location where the trigger.start file is available and and all its sub folders.
Depending on the number of AVEVA Gateways , you can configure any number of instances of AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher and, as a result, can watch multiple staging area folders. However, one staging area can be watched by only one instance of AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher.
After it is installed and configured, AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher runs in the background and no manual interventions are required unless there are interruptions in its functioning. Starting version 1.1, AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher can be run as a Windows service. It can be managed through command line using Windows Service commands and the GDP Service Manager tool that is available after installation of AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher.
AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher is capable of adjusting to the changes in its configuration dynamically without needing to be restarted. Information related to the functioning of AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher is logged to the log files. A log file is created for AVEVA™ Gateway Data Publisher and for each of its instances.
