Editing mode is the stage in which you assemble your project.

Overview

  1. Create a new branch from existing content repositories.

  2. Select image versions for capturable node(s).

  3. Launch a new session.

  4. Edit the simulation.

  5. Capture the instance

To create a new branch from a content repository

  1. Review available content repositories on the Content tab.

  2. For the content repository to branch, select Open in Browser from the 3dots_gray menu.

The repository opens in its own browser tab.

  3. Select the most recent branch.

  4. Enter a name for the new branch, such as today's date.

  5. Click "Create branch: today's date" from selected branch.

A new branch is created from the selected branch.

  6. Repeat Steps 1-5 for each content repository to be branched.

To select image versions for capturable node(s)

Project content for capturable nodes is embedded in the VM and cannot be separated, resulting in a slower launch.

    1. Select the Projects tab.

    2. Select Edit from the 3dots_gray menu for the session.

      The Edit project page opens.

    3. Select the latest image version for the capturable node(s).

    4. Click Next to open the Launch parameters page.

    5. For each content repository, select the latest branch in each Branch menu.

    6. Click Next to open to the Shutdown Behavior page.

    7. Click Next to open the Confirm and complete page.

    8. Click Update project.

      To launch a new session

      1. Select the Projects tab.

      2. Select the project (its Mode is Editing) and then select New session from the 3dots_gray menu.

The Launch project xxx - Editing screen opens.

        To edit the simulation

        1. On the Projects screen, expand the project to view the session.

        2. Click AppSuite_icon and then select one of the the VMs.

          The VM opens.

        3. Modify the simulation on the VM, as required.

Note: For non-capturable nodes, only the data in the content repository folder is captured.

If your modifications may take a few days to implement, you can save money by stopping the session at the end of each day and re-launching it before making further modifications.

          To capture the instance

          1. On the Projects screen, expand the project to view the session and verify that it is running.

          2. Select Capture instance from the 3dots_gray menu.

The Capture instance dialog box displays the number of existing image versions.

If there are already three image versions, a warning indicates that you cannot create a new one until you delete an existing one.

          3. To delete an existing image version, select DownArrow_icon to expand the list select Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE) for the image version to delete.

Two image versions remain in the session.

If an icon cannot be selected, then there is a Training-mode project using it.

          4. Enter a name for the new image version.

          5. Click Capture.

Wait until the instance is configured, which may take up to 20 minutes for each capturable node. When it is configured, the project is ready for Staging mode.
