The PI Connector for HART-IP (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer over IP) allows the retrieval of data from HART 7 devices. It also supports communication with HART 5/6 devices through a HART 7 adapter communicating with a HART 7 wireless gateway.
The HART protocol is used to send and receive digital information across analog wires between smart devices and control or monitoring systems. The majority of smart field devices installed worldwide today are HART-enabled. More recently, this protocol standard has been extended to include communication across wireless mesh network (WirelessHART) and IP networks (HART-IP). PI Connector for HART-IP is designed to communicate over IP networks.
PI Connector for HART-IP models the HART data, builds and configures assets and PI points to model the HART device, and then sends the HART data to PI Asset Framework(PI AF) and Data Archive.
