Typically, the connector and PI Servers are not installed on the same host. Since the connector communicates with the PI Servers using TCP sockets, any network firewalls between the connector host and the PI Server hosts must be configured to permit the following connections. If there are multiple firewalls (including Windows firewall on the connector or PI Server hosts), all firewalls in the connection path must be appropriately configured.

Connection from connector to Data Archive
The default port for Data Archive clients is 5450. All firewalls between the connector and Data Archive must allow the connector to open a connection to the administration client port. For example, if Windows firewall is enabled on the Data Archive host, Windows firewall needs to allow incoming connections to the client port from any connector host that needs to add the Data Archive server to the connector service list.

Connection from connector to PI AF
The default port for PI AF clients is 5457. All firewalls between the connector and PI AF must allow the connector to open a connection to the client port. For example, if Windows firewall is enabled on the PI AF host, Windows firewall needs to allow incoming connections to the client port from any connector host that needs to add the PI AF to the connector service list.
