PI Connector for Wonderware Historian

Modify the data source point prefix

To differentiate between data sources, you can modify the data source prefix in the Wonderware tag name.

Note: If you attempt to prefix existing PI points from your data source, a new set of PI points will be created and the data history will be lost.

  1. Open the PI Connector for Wonderware Historian Administration site.

  2. If the connector is running, in the Overview section, select Stop connector.

  3. Select Data Source List and, for the data source for which you want to add a prefix, select See Configuration.

  4. In the Prefix to Wonderware Tag Name field, type the prefix that you want for this data source.

Make sure that your preferred prefix is legal. If the prefix is illegal, the connector framework replaces it with a default value.

Note: When entering a prefix name, the adapter does not add a period separator to the end of the stream/tag name.

  5. Select Save.

  6. In the Overview section, select Start connector.

Examples

If your current PI point name is WonderwareHistorian Connector.Well020002.A1, your tag name displays differently if you enter an empty string.

For example, if you enter Tier1Server1. as your prefix, the new tag name will be WonderwareHistorian Connector.Tier1Server1.Well020002.A1.

If you enter an empty string, your tag name will be WonderwareHistorian Connector.Well020002.A1. This is equal to the PI point name without a data source point prefix.

Note: WonderwareHistorian Connector is the connector-wide PI point prefix.
