Add data sources and configure them for data collection from the PI Connector Administration Site page.

  1. From the Overview page, click the Data Source List link or click Add or modify data sources in the Data source for the PI Connector for Wonderware Historian area.

  2. To add a new data source, enter the name in the Data source name field and then click Add and configure.

Note: All Data source name values for the connector must be unique.

    The configuration window opens.

  3. Enter and select your data source configurations and then click Save.

    • Server Name: The server hosting the Wonderware Historian

    • User Name: User name of the account to access the Wonderware Historian

    • Password: The password of the user name account to access the Wonderware Historian

    • Runtime Database User Name: SQL user name to access the Wonderware Runtime database on the Wonderware Historian

    • Runtime Database Password: SQL password to access the Wonderware Runtime database on the Wonderware Historian

    • SQL Server TCP/IP Port: The TCP/IP port of the SQL Server Client Access Point

    • Wonderware Historian TCP/IP Port: The TCP/IP port of the Historian Client Access Point

    • Poll Rate (seconds): Used as sleep time between Wonderware Historian SDK queries

    • Update and Change Discovery Rate (seconds; default: 20): This field allows you to control how often changes in the Wonderware Galaxy are checked. The minimum time is 20 seconds and the maximum is 2147483 seconds.

    • Regular expression usage for selecting Wonderware Tags (default: Exclude selected tags): Include or exclude selected tags

    • Exclude/Include Wonderware tags (semicolon separated regular expression): Exclude/Include Wonderware tag configuration uses a regular expressions filter in the .NET regular expression format. The connector does not delete PI AF assets once they are created. To omit items and have them not be seen at all, you must have them filtered before starting the connector for the first time. If a change a filter to omit tags after the connector is started, the tags appear in the structure, but data is not collected. You can change the filter at any time.

Example: ^Well.* excludes/includes all Wonderware tags whose name begins with ‘Well’.

Note: The IgnorePatternWhitespace option is used with regular expressions. This treats '#' characters as a comment identifier. The '#' character must be escaped (for example, \#) if you want to include it as part of the tag name.

For additional information about the IgnorePatternWhitespace option, see Regex Options Enum and also, Miscellaneous Constructs in Regular Expressions, regarding '#' characters as a comment identifier.

    • To exclude Quality Value: Move to the Do Not Collect list. Quality tags are not be generated for Wonderware Tag objects.

    • To exclude Analog Real 32/64: Move to the Do Not Collect list to exclude the Wonderware Analog Real types

    • To exclude Analog Integer 16/32: Move to the Do Not Collect list to exclude the Wonderware Analog Integer types

    • To exclude Discrete: Move to the Do Not Collect list to exclude the Wonderware Discrete type

    • To exclude String: Move to the Do Not Collect list to exclude the Wonderware String type

    • To exclude Quality: Move to the Do Not Collect list to prevent the connector from creating a Quality PI point for each Wonderware tag

    • How the connector applies the filter expression defined in the 'Quality' data regular expression field (default: Exclude selected tags): 'Exclude selected tags' or 'Include selected tags'.

    • Regular expression(s) for selecting the Wonderware Tags for which to collect 'Quality' data (semicolon separated): Exclude/Include Wonderware tag configuration uses a regular expressions filter in the .NET regular expression format. The connector does not delete PI AF assets once they are created. To omit items and have them not be seen at all, you must have them filtered before starting the connector for the first time. If changing a filter to omit tags after the connector is started, the tags appear in the structure, but data is not collected. You can change the filter at any time.

    • To collect data for Wonderware tags not assigned to a Wonderware Galaxy: The collect check box must be selected in order to find and store tags not associated with a Galaxy in a Tier-1 system.

    • PI AF element parent name for Wonderware tags not assigned to a Wonderware Galaxy: If parent name is left blank and the check box to collect Wonderware tags not associated with a Wonderware Galaxy is active a root level area is created to store these tags using the data source name. Otherwise, if collection is active, it uses the root name in this field.

The Overview page opens and lists the new data source.
