If you prefer to import the configuration rather than configure it manually, first launch PI Event Frame Interface Manager to create a configuration for PI Event Frames Generator.

  1. On the Interface Selection tab, select Add Interface.

  2. From the dialog box, select PI Event Frames Generator, then enter a Service ID. This is the unique identifier for this PI Event Frame Generator instantiation.

  3. Close PI Event Frames Generator.

  4. Copy PIEFGenSim.ini and PIEFGenSim.xml from the examples directory to the PI EFGen Program Data directory ( C:/ProgramData/OSIsoft/Interfaces/EFGEN ).

  5. Rename the PIEFGenSim.ini and PIEFGenSim.xml to have the Service ID number for example PIEFGen123.ini and PIEFGen123.xml.

  6. Edit the ini file. Make sure the XMLFILE parameter is pointing to the XML file in the correct directory, as in this example:

    XMLFILE="C:\ProgramData\OSISoft\Interfaces\EFGEN\PIEFGEN123.XML"

  7. Reopen the PI Event Frame Interface Manager.

  8. On the Interface Selection tab, select the PI EFGen instantiation from the drop-down box.

  9. On the Server Information tab configure the settings for PI Server, AF system and the database to use.

    See Configure PI Event Frames Interface Manager for configuration details.

    The following figure shows downtime events created using the example configuration described in the next section.
