PI Interface for TCP Response

Install Interface as Windows service

The interface service can be created, preferably, with the PI Interface Configuration Utility, or can be created manually.

For improved security, we recommend running the interface service under a non-administrative account, such as a Windows built-in service virtual account, or a non-administrative account that you create.

If you need to change the Run as account after the initial installation of the service, then you must:

  1. Stop the interface.

  2. Edit the interface startup batch file by adding the -denc command line option, restart the interface to clean up the entries in the Windows Credential Manager.

  3. Remove the -denc command line parameter from the interface startup batch file.

  4. Place a copy of the password file in the same directory as the interface executable, change the Run as account to the new user name and password, and restart the interface.
