Authentication management

Beginning with version 1.2.1 the interface supports enhanced authentication security through an extensive new feature set including integration of the password file, pitcpresp#.password with Windows Credential Manager for storage and management of authentication settings.

Note: # in the password file name is the service ID for the interface.

OSIsoft strongly recommends that you maintain the password file using the new ICU control for authentication settings. See the topics Web page loading time, Configure the interface with PI ICU, Command line parameters and Install Interface as Windows service for details and examples.

Tip: To ensure best security practice OSIsoft also recommends you use the -ENC command line parameter, which will cause the interface to store the password file's information in Windows Credential Manager and to delete password files when the interface starts.
