The event codes returned when using OMF are divided into two categories: OMF message related codes and PI System related codes. Event codes with positive numbers are related to the OMF messages. Event codes with negative numbers are related to the PI System and may require a PI System administrator to resolve.
Event codes have the following range of severity levels (from most to least severe):
-
Critical
Critical events occur when the PI Web API can no longer function normally. The PI Web API may exhibit degraded functionality or be entirely unavailable. Critical events require immediate attention.
-
Error
Error events occur when an operation fails. However, the system is still in a good state, and will continue to function normally.
-
Warning
Warning events occur when an operation succeeds, but the result of the operation may not match what a client application developer could reasonably expect.
-
Info
Info events occur when information that a client application developer may be interested in is available, and the information does not materially impact the result of the operation.
-
Debug
Debug events are related to internal system state. They may only make sense to AVEVA developers or technical support, and can appear regardless of whether an operation succeeds or fails.
Event codes also have a corresponding HTTP status code and a description, which can help you better understand why your application is encountering an event.
