A type message creates resources in an on-premises PI System. The message is comprised of a header that defines the message type and a body that contains the message content in the form of keywords. For an example of a generic type message, see the OMF v1.2 Specification.
Type messages can be of the following categories:
-
Static
-
Dynamic
-
Enumeration
Creating a static or dynamic type will result in an AF Element Template. Creating an enumeration type will result in an AF Enumeration Set and possibly a DA Digital State Set. For more information on circumstances in which a DA Digital State Set is created, see Type message limitations.
Deleting a type will delete the associated AF Element Template or AF Enumeration Set/DA Digital State Set.
Note: UPDATE is not supported for Type messages. To modify a Type definition, a new Type must be created and referenced by new or updated Containers.
