After installing PI Web API, the following additional configuration is required:

  • Use the PI Web API Admin Utility to specify the PI AF server, Asset Database, and Data Archive to use with OMF. For more information, see the PI Web API User Guide.

  • Set the EnableCSRFDefense configuration item in PI System Explorer to True. See Other security settings in the PI Web API User Guide.

    Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) defense is enabled by default. When EnableCSRFDefense is set to True, messages must include the X-Requested-With header for POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE messages. For more information, see this GitHub cheat sheet on Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF).

  • For maximum performance, we recommend that you configure the PI Buffer subsystem. For more information, see Buffering in the PI Server Guide.
