Enable an authentication protocol

Note: When using PI Server 2023 and later, this section is only applicable if you have selected Windows authentication instead of OIDC authentication.

To connect to Data Archive with a defined PI mapping or PI trust, use PI System Explorer to enable the corresponding protocol on your computer. You must configure each computer where you connect to Data Archive with a PI mapping or PI trust.

1. Select Start > PI System > PI System Explorer to open PI System Explorer.

2. Select Tools > Options to open the Options dialog.

3. Select the Server Options tab on the Options dialog.

4. In the PI Data Archive Connection Setting section, use the arrow keys and checkboxes to sort and enable the protocols listed in Protocols.

   • To use PI mappings, Windows Security must be checked. This should be the first protocol in the Protocol order list.

   • To use PI trusts, PI Trust must be checked.

5. Select OK.
