PI SQL Client ODBC is an implementation of the ODBC standard based on the ODBC API.

Communication from PI SQL Client ODBC to the PI System requires PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) installed and running on the AF Server. It provides secure network communication through Net.Tcp or HTTPS to PI SQL Client ODBC.

Note: For HTTPS connections, PI SQL Client ODBC supports Transport Layer Security (TLS), versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. The TLS version is negotiated with PI SQL DAS and depends on its version and the operating systems involved.

PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) runs on Windows and PI SQL Client ODBC is supported on Windows operating systems.
