Before Configuring the Gateway

Please note the following important information before you configure the Gateway:

Windows Server operating systems' ICMP(v4) Echo Request may be disabled. You must enable this for an OPC client such as OI Gateway to connect to the server.

To determine the status of ICMP (v4) Echo on the server, open a command prompt on the OI Gateway computer and type:

ping SERVER_COMPUTER

where "SERVER_COMPUTER" is the name or IP address of the remote OPC computer.

If the remote computer does not respond to the ping command, enable ICMP(v4) Request on the remote computer according to the procedure for the Microsoft Windows operating system in use on that computer.
