Licensing for Gateway Features

Licensing is applicable for the entire Gateway and is not based on individual data sources in the Gateway hierarchy.
-
For standard functionality, OI Gateway requires any one of the following:
-
An InTouch HMI license of any kind, such as InTouch, InTouch for System Platform, and InTouch TSE, should be installed on the node.
-
A standard OI Gateway license (OI Server with count = 1).
-
-
For professional functionality, OI Gateway requires a professional OI Gateway license (OI Server with count =2).
The system item $SYS$Licensed indicates the status of the license. A return of 1 indicates that it is licensed and 0 indicates that license is not present.
Note: With a Standard license, MQTT is limited to a single connection configuration. You can connect to multiple brokers by leveraging the professional feature which allows multi-instance configuration. Hence, each instance can have its own broker configured.
Demo Mode
You can install the OI Gateway without a license. The OI Gateway runs without a license in Demo mode for 120 minutes. When the 120 minutes expire:
-
The OI Server stops updating items.
-
All non-system items have a Bad quality status.
-
New items are rejected.
While in demo mode the OI Gateway checks for a license every 30 seconds. If a license is not found, the OI Server logs a warning.
Use the $SYS$Licensed system item to check the status of your license. This item returns true if the proper license is found or the OI Server is in demo mode (the 120 minutes). Otherwise, it returns false.
After the OI Server finds a valid license, it logs a message, stops looking for a license, and begins running normally. For more information, see the License Utility Documentation.
