Install the IIS Server

Install the Internet Information Services (IIS) Server to host your web application. The IIS server facilitates communication with the client.

Note: Install and configure IIS Server from Server Manager on the same server where SOP is hosted .

To install IIS server:

  1. On the Server Manager, Dashboard, select Add roles and features.

  2. From the Before you begin window, select Next.

    In the Select installation type, by default, the Role-based or feature-based installation is selected.

  3. Select Next.

  4. From the Select Destination Server, select Select a server from the server pool.

  5. Select the current computer from Server Pool and then select Next.

    The Add Roles and Features Wizard appears.

  6. From the Select server roles, select Web Server (IIS).

    A new window appears and allows you to add additional features required for Web Server (IIS).

  7. Select Add Features to install the required features.

  8. On the Select Server Roles, select Web Server (IIS) and then select Next.

  9. Select Next in the Select features window.

  10. Select Next in the Web Server Role (IIS) window.

  11. In the Select role services window, navigate to Application Development (under Web Server Role).

  12. Select all the check boxes except CGI and then select Next.

    Note: Make sure that under the Security option, the IP and Domain Restrictions, URL Authorization, and Windows Authentication are enabled.

  13. In the Confirm installation selections window, select Install.

    The IIS Server is successfully installed.

    Note: No reboot is required after a standard IIS installation. However, if you remove the role, a reboot is required.

  14. Select Close.

    Note: At this point, IIS should run on port 80 by default with the firewall rule "World Wide Web Services (HTTP Traffic-In)" enabled in Windows firewall automatically.

    The IIS Server is successfully installed.

    To verify, open a web browser and enter the server address on which the IIS is installed.

    Note: Make sure to turn off the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security option if using Server Edition OS, which can be found in the Server Manager.
