Depending on your particular scenario, you will need to follow some or all of the following phases to migrate your eDNA point data to Data Archive. These steps are recommended to reduce the load on the pre-existing Data Archive and minimize potential downtime.

  1. Populate the target Data Archive with new PI tags as needed.

  2. Prepare the target Data Archive.

  3. Set up the temporary Data Archive.

  4. Migrate data to the temporary Data Archive.

  5. Transfer data from the temporary server to the target server.

  6. Merge archive data from the temporary server to the target server. (Required for Scenario 3 only.)

  7. Finalize the target Data Archive.

  8. Decommission the temporary Data Archive.

Key terms

  • Target Data Archive: The Data Archive server that is already set up and may be in production. This target server is also receiving live data. Historical data from eDNA will be migrated from the temporary Data Archive to the target Data Archive.

  • Temporary Data Archive: The temporary Data Archive server that the eDNA Migration Utility will run on to migrate historical point data from eDNA to PI archives file. The historical point data will then be transferred and merged to the target Data Archive. The temporary Data Archive will then be retired and decommissioned.
