Learn about scan-based inputs

For interfaces that support scan-based collection of data, Location4 defines the scan class for the PI point. The scan class determines the frequency at which input points are scanned for new values. For more information, see the description of the / f parameter in the Learn about startup command files chapter.

Note: Scan-based Input points will receive data during Integrity Scans, Event Scans, or when the RTU sends unsolicited data for the particular object and index combination in addition to the scheduled polled interval.

When defining input points used for freezing counters at a specified interval, the points must not be assigned to an event scan class.
