Units of measure (UOM)

When you define a PI point data reference, you can optionally specify the units that the referenced PI point uses. If possible, PI AF automatically changes the attribute type to a value type that is compatible with the specified units.

However, if the attribute is defined by an attribute template, the type cannot change. Instead, an attempt is made to convert the value to the template’s value type. If the value cannot be converted, an error is displayed.
