Connect to a database on a different PI AF server

Use the PI AF Servers window to locate and connect to the PI AF server that contains the database you want to work with.

In the Select Database window, click
.

In the PI AF Servers window, review the list of servers. Note that the default database on each connected server is also displayed.

Choose from the following actions.

Do this ...
Select the server where the database is located
Double-click on a connected (
) server. The PI AF Servers window closes and the selected server is displayed in the Asset server field.
Check the properties of a server
Select a server and click Properties.
Connect to a server
Right-click a server that is not connected (
) and click Connect.
Connect to a server as a different user (for example, from a shared computer)

Right-click a server that is not connected and click Connect As.

In the Connect to PI AF Server server window, enter a Windows user account name and password.

Click OK.
Review access permissions for a connected server

Right-click a connected server and click Security.

In the Security Configuration window, check the settings for the listed identities, as needed.
Note: If you have administrative privileges on the server, you can also modify the security configuration. See Configure security for new PI AF databases.
