Extract the PI SQL Client JDBC files

To set up PI SQL Client JDBC on Linux, macOS, or Oracle Solaris, you need to extract the files from the compressed archive. Follow this procedure or use the method you prefer. For example, you can right-click on the file and select Extract.

Different operating systems have different tools to perform this task. The following example is performed on SUSE 12 SP2.

  1. Navigate to the location of pisqlclientjdbc_2021-x86-x64_.tar.gz, right-click on the file, and select Open with Archive Manager.

  2. Select Extract, select the folder you want the files to extract into, and select Extract.

We recommend that you extract the installation files into the /Downloads directory, but you can choose any directory other than /opt. If you extract the installation files into /opt, it can cause errors during installation.

An installation script is provided for a central installation of PI SQL Client JDBC in the /opt directory. This requires root privileges. If you cannot gain root privileges, use the single user and manual installation instructions. See Install manually or for a single user system for details.

Note the location where you extracted the files. You will need this information to complete the installation.
