AVEVA™ Simulation

File transfer and backup folder

  • Last UpdatedOct 27, 2025

Backing up and transferring files can be useful when migrating data between versions. You might perform this simple process, for example, when a product version is scheduled to be retired.

To transfer files

  1. Download files from the AVEVA Simulation VM to your local computer or VM.

  2. Upload files to the new version.

  3. Copy files to c:\asbackup.

See the note about storage specificity.

  4. Open the files in the target version and then save them again.

Changes made to the asbackup folder are automatically saved to cloud storage every five minutes. This helps protect your data in the event of a crash or a connectivity loss.

AVEVA Simulation cloud storage backup is case specific. Backup and retrieval must match all four criteria:

  • user

  • region

  • product

  • product version

For example, if a user stores files in APS 2025 in Northern Europe, the same user can't retrieve the files in the Western US region. This is true even if the product and version (APS 2025) are the same.

Autosave in AVEVA Pro/II Simulation

AVEVA Pro/II Simulation software offers an autosave option. For details, see the help files in the application.

To secure your AVEVA Dynamic Simulation files
