Configure PCS PI Data provider

To configure PCS PI data provider instance:

  1. After installing PCS PI Data provider, restart the IDE.

  2. From the IDE ribbon, navigate to Galaxy>Configure>System>Services. A new service AVEVA.PCS.Provider.1.0 is available.

  3. In the Configure Services utility, expand the items on the left pane and go to AVEVA PCS PI Provider 1.0 service.

  4. Right-click on the AVEVA PCS PI Provider 1.0 service and select Create. The new instance of the service appears on the tree structure. By default is created with PCS.PI_Provider_001.

  5. Right-click on the new instance and select Check-out to modify the configuration.

  6. Verify the details about the parameters for Provider, PI Web API, Browse, and Runtime Data.

  7. Assign the service instance to a node. Under Assignments, select the node you want to assign the service instance.

  8. Select Save and then Check-in.

  9. After the node is selected, the Update option is enabled. Select Update.

  10. On the left-pane, right-click the instance, and then select Deploy. A message appears indicating whether the node is successfully deployed.

  11. Launch Operation Control Management Console (OCMC) to verify the service is running successfully. To do so, follow the steps:

    1. In the OCMC application, navigate to Log Viewer>Default Group>Local.

    2. In the main screen, verify if the PCS PI Data provider service is running successfully.

  12. Each service instance needs to be installed on the assigned nodes. To do so, find a warning message "Windows service for PI PCS Provider 'PCS.PIProvider_001' not found" from AVEVA.PCS.PIProvider.GalaxyService in the logger.

  13. A similar command mentioned below appears on the logger. Ensure to copy the command from the logger and then launch Command Prompt as administrator. Run the copied command to install PCS PI Data provider service.

    sc create PCS.PIProvider_001 binpath="C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArchestrA\Services\PCS.PIProvider\Service\AVEVA.PCS.PIProvider.Service.exe /IT=PCS.PIProvider_001" start=auto obj="NT SERVICE\PCS.PIProvider_001" DisplayName="AVEVA PI PCS Provider (PCS.PIProvider_001)" && net localgroup ASBSolution "NT SERVICE\PCS.PIProvider_001" /add && net localgroup ArchestrAWebHosting "NT SERVICE\PCS.PIProvider_001" /add && sc sidtype PCS.PIProvider_001 unrestricted && sc start PCS.PIProvider_001

  14. Open Windows Service using Services.msc command. AVEVA PCS PI Provider (PCS.PIProvider_001) service is created in Windows Services.

  15. You can update the user that runs the Windows Service, which will be used to authenticate with PI WebAPI, and access PI Server resources.

  16. Right click on the above created windows service and select Properties.

  17. Select Log On tab and update credentials under this account.

  18. Restart the Windows Service after the configuration changes are completed.

    Note: If you change any parameters for the Galaxy service and redeploy it, you need to restart the corresponding Windows service for the configurations to be updated.
