Connect Power BI

You can connect Power BI Desktop to Azure SQL Database.

Connect Power BI

  1. Open Power BI Desktop.

    The following window appears.

  2. Click Get Data.

  3. Select Azure on the left pane, and then select Azure SQL database.

  4. Click Connect.

    A dialog box appears.

  5. In the Server box, enter the Datastore Server name. Ensure that this value matches the Server name displayed in the Connection String Management dialog box while creating the connection. For more information, see Manage Connection Strings.

  6. In the Database box, enter the datastore name. Ensure that this value matches the Database name displayed in the Connection String Management dialog box. For more information, see Manage Connection Strings.

  7. Click OK.

    A dialog box appears.

  8. Click Connect.

    The connection between Power BI and Azure SQL Database is established successfully.

  9. Select the object on the left pane, and then preview the data on the right pane.

  10. Click Load to load the data into Power BI Desktop.

    Once loaded, the imported objects are listed under the Fields section on the right pane.
